The stories we tell have always held dreams, wishes, fears, and worldviews. Over the past three decades, the Internet has been the place where many contemporary mythologies have been born, emerging from forums, social platforms and conversations among users. From the depths of the web have emerged images, creatures, symbols and aesthetics, giving rise to the vast cultural corpus known as Internet folklore.
Inspired by one such story, which first appeared on Reddit in 2012, is The Lamp exhibition, curated by Valentina Tanni, a scholar of internet cultures and digital cultures. The exhibition itinerary consists of installations that become moments and experiences of a common narrative, like the chapters of a story.
The visitor is thus called to step into the shoes of the actor-performer who actively contributes to the manifestation of the story, inhabiting the environments created by the artists.
Blivet is a Rome-based interdisciplinary multimedia art collective founded in 2022. The collective investigates the intersections of art, matter and technology, with a focus on the dynamics of contemporaneity and technological innovation.
Characterized by a biting and self-aware irony, Blivet develops installations and interactive performances that critically explore topical issues through a playful and participatory language. Each project
is conceived as an expressive ecosystem, modulated by the context and instances of the moment, with an adaptive and experimental approach. Art is danger.
The art duo Borsos Lőrinc focuses on the constructed nature of artistic identities, exploring how art can become a composite and programmable entity. Hybridity, as a concept of multiplicity, critiques the artist-work-oeuvre triad as an organic unity. They create a private mythology and at the same time a critique of mythology, revealing the emptiness of the face they fabricate for themselves. Their works are the prosthetic media of their (anti)mythology. Borsos Lőrinc are neither one nor two, neither art nor anti-art, but a place where all these convulsions converge. They are legion.
Transmedia artists Saverio Villirillo and Gregorio Comandini explore the relationships between humans and machines, producing installations, exhibitions and social practices. The architect and A/V artist duo explores the threshold between perception, consciousness and imagination. Through the language of new media, their works seek a liminal state of altered consciousness generating enchantment.
